2009 OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY CONTESTUniversity Womens Softball Team

Purpose:

The U of U Climbing Programs photography contest is an opportunity for students of the university, their friends and family to submit their outdoor photographs for a chance at exhibition and prizes.

The top 25 photos will be displayed in the University of Utah Union Building for public viewing. The prizes will be divided into four categories: Overall Grand Winner, Mountaineering (climbing, hiking, backpacking, etc), Nature (scenic, no emphasis on people), and Water (rafting, kayaking, surfing, etc).

Only one award will go to the Overall Grand Winner. There will be a 1st, 2nd,  and 3rd place awarded to the remaining categories.

Photos can be submitted between September 15 and  December 11th of 2009. Winners will be notified within one month of the ending date and given directions as to the preparation of their photo for showing. Winning photos will be shown towards the end of January 2010 (TBA).

RULES AND SUBMISSION GUIDLINES

Fees:
The cost of entry is $5.00 for one image or $10.00 for three images, and must be paid before images will be considered. Payment can be made in person at the Outdoor Recreation Program on campus or phoned in to the Program Coordinator, Nate Smith at 801-674-6836. Forms of payment can include cash, check (made to: ORP) and credit card (Mastercard, Visa, Discover, American Express).

Entries and Submissions:
There is no limit to the amount of photos one person may submit, however they are limited to one category win. Photos can be delivered in person to the Outdoor Recreation Program on campus or digitally submitted via e-mail to the Program Coordinator at Nate.Smith@health.utah.edu.

Size for print submission:
Crop and size of print may be any dimension as long as it is meets the maximum and minimum standards.

Min: 4inX6in

Max: 12inX18in

Size for online submission
Same rules as print, however please do not submit images smaller than 30k, they become over-pixilated. If image is larger than 500k, there may be trouble emailing, please reduce the size.

Content
The University Climbing Program will consider no photographs that it identifies as obscene, provocative, or otherwise containing objectionable content; nor will we consider submissions from employees of the University Climbing Programs.

Digital manipulation
Should follow the 'As found/viewed rule'.
Basically this means that any post shutter manipulation is limited to tonal variations (contrast, brightness and hue), and that no forms and shapes in that photograph were moved, added or deleted (except by cropping), or otherwise altered.

By uploading material or providing hard copy images to the University of Utah Climbing Programs (Uof U CP) you grant Uof U CP the following rights: a royalty-free, perpetual license to display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivatives of the submitted content, in whole or in part, without further review or participation from you, in any medium now existing or subsequently developed, in editorial, commercial, promotional, and trade uses in connection with the UofU CP. Proper credit will be given to the photographer for any images used in support of the Climbing Programs.
If your image is selected as a winner, you must be able to provided release forms from all identifiable persons.
